Cash/valuables-in-transit (CVIT) is the physical transfer of banknotes, coins, credit cards, and items of value from one location to another. Locations of these physical transfers include cash centers, bank branches, ATM points, large retailers, gaming, vending machines, parking meters, and other premises holding large amounts of cash. Cash and valuables in transit companies play a vital role in the business world and the broader community by helping to keep the economy running.
There are transport and security regulations that many cash in transit companies have to comply with because by law they are seen as logistic companies. There are several operational challenges within armored transportation; global logistics; diamonds and jewelry; precious metals; and bulk cargo over long distances. Due to these challenges, maximum standards for the secure movement of goods is paramount. The transportation of high-value materials and bulk banknotes and coins can be difficult and risky with the threat of theft and pilferage. In some cases, shipments may be too large for air transport or more traditional armored trucks; and in other instances, shipments may require rigorous tracking procedures. Knowing that crime is always a legitimate threat to CVIT, these shipments require sophisticated supply chain risk strategies.
TydenBrooks has extensive experience in supplying solutions to these CVIT challenges, and we understand the industry and the threats it faces. We work closely with our CVIT partners, including their global end-users, and our experience even extends to securing the U.S. Federal Reserve, member banks, and world mints. Through innovation and working hand in hand with our CVIT partners, we have developed custom security seals to meet their security needs. With over 150+ patents worldwide, we work to ensure small to medium-sized regional companies up to large multi-national companies can adequately protect their supply chains.
Securing the CVIT Supply Chain
Cash, coin, and precious metals are transferred daily by armored trucks across various cash centers, bank branches, ATM points, and large retailers. This physical transfer of valuables from one location to another is one of the most significant challenges faced by the cash/valuables-in-transit (CVIT) industry. Each of these locations must adhere to strict track and trace procedures. Many of our security seals such as the adjustable Secure Grip, which was designed for this industry specifically; and our Flex Secure cable seal product line are used to secure canvas bags with grommets and various types of transport containers. Once the bag or container is secured, the 2D barcoded numbers are logged into the system, and the shipment is tracked from point A to B. This ensures that no tampering occurs and that all valuables are in the same state as they were when they shipped by providing tamper-evidence.
A great example of our innovation and customization for our CVIT customers is our work with the U.S. Federal Reserve and various world mints. The Money Tray seal and AVG seals were both custom-made to meet the U.S. Federal Reserve's specifications. These products allowed them to implement a unique track and trace security seal solution. We have also custom-designed various plastic security seals and security labels for the world mints. These seals and labels are specially made for metal canisters that are used to transport gold, silver, or other precious metals in the form of bars, ingots, or specialized coins. Precious metals are usually stored in massive high-security vaults, which are loaded using robotic vault solutions. TydenBrooks created a custom barcoded Enduro Indenta Seal that is applied to large steel containers that are then transported by the robot into these vaults.
These two CVIT partners have a strict code of conduct and policies for ordering. For this, TydenBrooks provides a dedicated team that ranges from customer service to an executive management lead to ensure these processes and guidelines are met. These security solutions are only provided to these specific customers as they are created to meet their specific needs and guidelines.
TydenBrooks also serves a vast array of large retailers, gaming, casinos, and other cash and valuable holding premise partners. For these customers, we supply a multitude of CVIT adjustable security seals such as the Secure Grip, Tug Tight, All Seal, and Equilok which tightly seal the canvas and plastic bags. These seals are also used to secure totes that protect valuables such as diamonds and high-value jewelry. These tamper-evident adjustable security seals, when applied correctly, prevent any openings or gaps that may allow pilferage. Visual track and trace features make replacing these seals virtually impossible once they are removed. These adjustable security seals can be customized with 1D, 2D, and QR barcodes as well as being sequentially numbered and marked with the company name and logo for improved security and reduction in human error that leads to additional shrinkage.
Recently, TydenBrooks launched a new line of polyethylene tamper-evident security bags that includes coin bags and security deposit bags. These are the strongest, simplest, and most efficient plastic bags on the market. This line of bags is a frontline defense against fraud and loss for cash-in-transit and cash management providers, financial institutions, and retail establishments in over 80 countries.
TydenBrooks also offers a complete line of reusable PVC security bags with our patented TydenClip locking system. Our tamper-evident reusable PVC cash receipt bags are used for keeping desired contents secured in transit to and from the various retail operations; which include not only cash, but also valuables in transit and even important documents. These bags are made durable; and are able to hold up to the wear and tear of everyday transport while providing top-of-the-line security.
Securing Bulk CVIT Cargo
For bulk CVIT cargo that must travel over long distances, a higher level of security is required. In addition to our tamper-evident security solutions, high-security ISO 17712:2013 cable and bolt seals, such as our innovation in track and trace technology, the GeoBolt™ ; should be implemented. With CVIT cargo being high-value, track and trace security is strongly recommended so that a shipment can be monitored during its entire journey. Our new GeoBolt™ gives 24/7 updates regarding a shipment's location and send alerts such as door openings and cut bolt alerts. The GeoBolt™ also offers customizable geofencing settings; so it can be detected if a shipment deviates from a route and tracks GPS locations. This GPS tracking can be used to halt or recall a shipment if the need arises; or detect where along the supply chain a problem occurred.
If high-security technology solutions cannot yet be implemented, our wide variety of high-security bolt and cable seals should be applied to container and truck doors. These seals, such as the SnapTracker and EZ Loc; add high-security solutions to your multi-layered security strategy and provide a barrier between your high-value CVIT and bad actors. Cash logistics, secure storage; coin processing; currency handling; valuables including diamonds; jewelry; and precious metals will always require a multi-layered supply chain solution due to the high risk of CVIT. By protecting these shipments, you also protect those who are operating the various transportation equipment, and ultimately, your companies brand reputation.
