The Intermodal II® is our flagship bolt seal, certified to the high security international standards ISO 17712:2013. The bolt securely slots into the locking chamber, preventing any breaching of the seal by high speed spinning attacks. Any attempt to tamper with the seal shows permanent damage to the seal.
To be classified as a High Security Seal, a bolt seal must have obtained a high security “H” rating as per the ISO 17712 standard. The ISO 17712 rating provides “uniform procedures for the classification, acceptance, and withdrawal of mechanical freight container seals. It provides a single source of information on mechanical seals which are acceptable for securing freight containers in international commerce.”
Each of our Bolt seals bear a unique number and/or barcode. If a loaded container is delivered at a terminal for export without it bearing such a seal, the terminal staff will apply it. However, they can also decide to embargo the container and to inspect the entire or part of the cargo before applying such a seal. The additional costs involved are payable by the shipping agent or client.
